(MANHATTAN, N.Y.) Upper West Side native Mike Matthews staged a fake emergency with the New York City Fire Department to propose to his fiancée, Amy Marshall, who also happens to be a nurse.

According to the New York Post, set up for the wild proposal involved members of the FDNY, Matthew's pregnant friend and "Queer Eye" star Tan France.

The couple had been dating two-and-a-half years, were unofficially engaged and had even set a date for their wedding, but Matthews wanted to make things official.

They had planned to take engagement photos on April 16, but Matthews had a surprise for Marshall who is a maternity nurse.

One of their pregnant friends pretended to be in labor along with FDNY firefighters who participated in the fake emergency, and as the Senior Director of Nursing of Maternal Child Health at Lenox Hill Hospital, Marshall got into action and tried to be of assistance.

Mattew told The Post he expected the scheme to be "the most fail-proof plan" since "babies are her world."

As Marshall offered her medical services, Matthews got down on one knee to propose.

"I don’t recommend getting engaged on the way to get engagement photos unless your girlfriend has a great sense of humor and a lot of patience," joked the soon-to-be groom. "I was riding way too close to the edge."

Matthew ended up treating the 13 FDNY members to a meal from Five Guys in exchange for their services.

The couple plans to be wed in Central Park on May 6, which Matthew notes "happens to be National Nurses Day." Once the pandemic ends, the love-struck pair plan to have a bigger wedding.

"Queer Eye" star Tan France also apologized to Marshall for the fiasco of a proposal.

"I would like to apologize for Mike’s proposal on his behalf," France said in the video, per The Post. "He’s very excited to propose to you and marry you. But he understands that that proposal might have been quite shocking. He’s sorry if there is any residual shock or embarrassment!"
