(SAN FRANCISCO) San Francisco officials on Tuesday announced all San Franciscans aged 16 years or older are now eligible to receive a coronavirus vaccine.

Last week, the city made people aged 16 or older eligible in priority zip codes: 94124, 94134, 94112, 94110, 94107, 94102, 94103 and 94130. These communities were hardest hit by COVID-19, according to officials.

Nearly 60% of San Franciscans aged 16 and older received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The newest expansion to all people 16 and over was originally scheduled for April 15. However, the city bumped up the date seeing as nearby Alameda and Santa Clara counties started vaccinating this group.

"Other counties are moving forward with vaccine eligibility and we want San Franciscans to have the same opportunity," Breed tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

Newly eligible people are asked to visit SF.gov/getvaccinated to learn about options for receiving the vaccine and to find links to schedule available appointments citywide.

San Francisco is currently vaccinating approximately 12,000 residents per day, with more than 30% of San Franciscans fully vaccinated and 58% of residents have received at least one dose to date, the mayor tweeted.

Additionally, in response to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's updated guidance Tuesday, San Francisco has temporarily stopped using the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The city will wait to receive further federal guidance after U.S. health officials called for a "pause" to investigate reports of potentially dangerous blood clots.

San Francisco has administered more than 33,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to residents with no known cases of blood clots, the mayor's office said Tuesday.
