Victim fights off attempted robbery in Oakland

(OAKLAND, Calif.) An Asian man fought back against an attempted robbery on Saturday morning, with a witness capturing the incident on her phone from her apartment above the scene of the attack, KRON4 reports.

The attack happened at approximately 7:15 a.m. when Tiffany Chuk saw what was happening and started recording the attack.

“I was scared,” Chuk told KRON4. “We tried to record his license plate for evidence for the police.”

The video shows the suspect get out of his car and approach the man from across the street and can be seen throwing several punches at the man before he starts fighting back.

The suspect tried to punch the victim one last time before running back to his car. The victim gave chase before the suspect sped off. Chuk’s brother called 911 to report the attack.

“It's scary because prior to coming to Oakland I’ve seen these attacks on news and social media and to wake up to that was shocking. It was horrifying and terrible,” Chuk told KRON4. “My sister couldn’t even sleep that night. That man could’ve been anybody. To witness it first-hand and to see the man yell as he was getting attacked, that’s why I wanted to share the video. We want this person brought to justice.”
