Horry County police investigating after 2 ‘abnormally skinny’ boys found abandoned near Myrtle Beach, report says

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Horry County police are investigating after two “abnormally skinny” boys came to a woman’s home in the Myrtle Beach area, according to an incident report obtained by News13.

Police responded at about 12:30 a.m. Monday to the 6300 block of Bay Road for abandoned children, the report said. The caller told responding officers she heard knocking on the side door and that she saw two boys and told them to go to the front door.

The woman said when she opened the door, one of the boys put their foot in the doorway and told her they were cold and hungry and did not know who dropped them off or where they were, according to the report.

The younger sibling said they were dropped off at Dunkin Donuts sometime the previous evening while the sun was still setting before they walked to the woman’s house, the report said. Both boys said they did not know the man who dropped them off, though both of them said the person who dropped them off is the one “that kept them locked in a room for extended periods during the previous summer.”

The older sibling had lacerations on both shoulders, his left leg and foot and a possible infection on his left ankle, the report said. Both boys had several scars and bruising on various locations, mostly on their backs.

The younger boy had lacerations on his left elbow, right shin, left knee and a possible skin infection on his left palm, according to the report. He told officers they were given one peanut butter sandwich about every 1-2 days.

Police then spoke with one of the suspects, whose identity was redacted in the report, who told officers he had both children in his care for about five years with nine total children in the home.
