Myrtle Beach restaurants were found to have several health violations, including soiled surfaces and a rusty shelf.

Indeed, one restaurant was inspected twice and received an improved score after its second report. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control routinely inspects restaurants along the Grand Strand; its reports are up-to-date as of April 17, 2024.

These two restaurants received the worst grades.

Scrambled Kitchen & Coffee

Location: 4999 Carolina Forest Blvd. #4

Grade: 76 percent

SCDHEC inspected Scrambled Kitchen & Coffee April 8, 2024, and found several violations. Eggs, home fries and sausage were not marked with the correct date, according to the report. SCDHEC found a rusty kitchen cooler shelf, too.

SCDHEC also found soiled cleaning rags improperly stored and milk crates used as shelving. Among other violations, SCDHEC also found the kitchen hood had a build-up and grease was dripping along the back of the hood.

Despite the initial score, SCDHEC returned to Scrambled Kitchen & Coffee April 16, 2024, and the restaurant received a 97 percent.

Chopsticks

Location: 1399 South Commons Dr., Unit 2A

Grade: 78 percent

SDHEC inspected Chopsticks April 9, 2024, and found many violations. SCDHEC found raw chicken cross-contaminating ready-to-eat carrots. Chopsticks had tempura chicken, egg rolls, cooked noodles, and kung pao sauce held for more than 24 hours, according to SCDHEC’s report.

SCDHEC also found soy sauce containers reused for other sauces, and wontons were stored in cardboard boxes. The report also found soiled surfaces in a refrigerator.

Chopsticks is required to have an on-site, follow-up inspection within 10 days. SCDHEC noted that Chopsticks would be downgraded if violations were not corrected.
