    Missouri State women's basketball signee Zoe Stewart arrested on dating violence charge

    Zoe Stewart, a recent Missouri State women's basketball signee, was arrested early Thursday morning on an assault charge in Kentucky.

    According to the Calloway County Jail, the Murray State transfer was arrested by the Murray Police Department and booked at 2:32 a.m. on a fourth-degree dating violence charge, noting it included a minor injury.

    “The coaching staff is aware of the incident and will continue to monitor the situation,” a Missouri State spokesperson said.

    An arrest citation said officers were dispatched about a domestic violence situation. The document said that once officers arrived, a victim was found with multiple bruises, cuts and red marks on her face and neck area. The citation said the victim had a large bruise on her left eye and a large cut on her neck. The victim told police Stewart began throwing the victim's belongings. The victim added Stewart pushed her when the altercation started.

    Stewart admitted to becoming angry and throwing items, according to the arrest citation which noted Stewart also had bruises, cuts, red marks and a large cut on her bottom lip. Stewart stated =the victim had "placed hands on her in the past." Police said Stewart emanated the odor of alcohol.

    Court records said Stewart posted a $1,000 bond and is not to have any contact or communication with the victim.

    Missouri State announced Stewart signed with the Lady Bears on April 4. The 20-year-old guard from Terre Haute, Indiana, has three seasons of eligibility remaining. She averaged 8.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists for the Racers last season.
