MUNCIE, Ind. — A recent traffic stop resulted in drug-dealing and gun-related charges against a Muncie man.

Dequan Asanti Duane Blackmon, 29, was charged last week in Delaware Circuit Court 1 with dealing in a narcotic drug, theft of a firearm and unlawful carrying of a handgun.

According to Muncie police, after a Kia Sedan was pulled over near Ninth and Franklin streets on April 24, a police K-9 indicated there were narcotics in the vehicle.

Blackmon was identified as the car's driver.

According to an affidavit, a search of the vehicle resulted in seizure of three bags, each holding several "M-30" pills, believed to contain oxycodone or fentanyl.

Also found were two plastic medication bottles containing "an unidentified liquid," the court document said, along with a handgun that had been reported stolen and a set of digital scales.

The dealing charge filed against Blackmon is a Level 2 felony carrying up to 30 years in prison. The theft count is a Level 5 felony with a maximum six-year sentence.

The Muncie man continued to be held in the Delaware County Jail this week under a $57,500 bond.

Blackmon already faced three charges — theft, unlawful possession of a legend drug and possession of a controlled substance — filed against him last June, also in Circuit Court 1.

    In other court news:

Dealing arrest : A Yorktown man has been accused of twice selling fentanyl and meth to an informant for the Muncie-Delaware County Drug Task Force.

James Anthony Lynn Jr., 31, was arrested on April 30, preliminarily charged with dealing in meth, dealing in a narcotic drug, possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug, possession of meth and maintaining a common nuisance.

He was later released to pre-trial supervision.

According to an affidavit, Lynn sold the substances to the informant at his home in the 8900 block of West Hillcrest Drive on April 23 and again on April 25.

The Delaware County prosecutor's office will determine whether formal charges will be filed in the case.

Lynn was convicted of dealing in a narcotic drug in 2017, and possession of a controlled substance and domestic battery, both in 2015.
