One Idaho yarn shop sits on a working alpaca ranch, and the staff will let you meet the animals they shear for yarn. I love that detail. Your next winter hat could start with a fuzzy face you actually said hello to. The other stops get just as specific. One...

Amazon drones take flight in parts of Treasure Valley
Customers will soon be able to seek out their packages, not from a delivery driver, but from a sky-high robot. Amazon has officially introduced drone delivery from its Nampa fulfillment center. The Boise metropolitan area is one of three new areas now eligible for Prime Air, joining Amazon’s 13 existing drone delivery areas. According to Amazon’s website, most drone delivery areas have a radius of approximately 7.5 miles, covering 170 square miles. At its center is the fulfillment warehouse. From the Nampa facility, the radius reaches the outskirts of Kuna, parts of Star and Meridian. “Prime Air exists for the moments when getting out isn’t easy, safely delivering the everyday essentials people need most, in as fast as 30 minutes,” an Amazon press release states. The service is intended for everyday essentials to avoid a trip to the store. The drones are fully electric and capable of delivering small packages. Drone delivery is available during daytime hours and good weather. According to the release, the introduction of drones creates positions across operations, engineering, safety and customer service. Drone deliveries are available for Amazon Prime members for free on orders of $50 or more, or $2.99 on smaller orders. To check

One meat bundle here is literally called the Not Enough Steaks pack. I love a business that names its products after a problem everybody has. That pack sits beside a Fiesta pack, a smokers pack, and a fill the freezer bundle. The shop also has a drive-thru for pickup. Yes,...

Harris Ranch's town center bails on office buildings. Here's what's coming instead
The developer behind Harris Ranch’s long-awaited town center is swapping offices for apartments, a move they say reflects how times have changed in the 20 years since the Barber Valley development first took shape. California developer High Rhodes is seeking to trade out a half-million square feet of workspace in favor of 309 additional apartments atop stores in the 20-acre mixed-use parcel, partner Brad Hillgren told some 60 residents at a Barber Valley Neighborhood Association meeting Monday night. The updated plans swerve from past iterations for the three-block span between Warm Springs Avenue and Wolf Tree Street. But the core concept — public space, retail, apartments and town homes — remains intact six-plus years into High Rhodes’ involvement. The new concept would nearly double the number of apartments planned for the development. High Rhodes previously conceived of 316 apartments around “food-focused” retail spaces bound by a hotel to the south and 66 town homes to the north, High Rhodes partner Steven Hillgren told the Statesman in May . In between, a pedestrian avenue will link the two ends — and their small public parks. “This has always been a little bit of a crystal-ball exercise,” said attorney Hethe Clark, representing
