    • Jewelry of an undisclosed value was stolen Monday night at Holiday Inn Express on EMS Drive, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports.

    The owner of the property is listed as Toma Lynn Corum of Knoxville, Tennessee.

    • A suspicious-person investigation last Saturday led to a Mount Airy man being jailed without privilege of bond as a fugitive from justice.

    Joshua Stephen Hill, 33, of 191 Spring Valley Lane, was encountered by officers during a suspicious-person investigation at 715 W. Pine St. and discovered to be the subject of an outstanding order for arrest issued in Roanoke, Virginia, for an unspecified matter.

    Hill was confined in the Surry County Jail and is awaiting an appearance in District Court in Dobson this coming Monday.

    • Bobby Dillan Goad, 30, of 321 Orchard Ridge Lane, Cana, Virginia, was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and assault on a female on April 19.

    Goad faced outstanding warrants on those cases which were filed on April 10 through Surry County authorities with Haley Faith Boatman as the complainant.

    He was jailed in Dobson under a $1,000 secured bond and slated for a May 1 appearance in Surry District Court.

    • License tags were targeted in a theft at Factory Motor Parts on Merita Street, which was discovered on April 15.

    One plate was stolen from a vehicle and attempts were made to remove two others, damaging those tags in the process.

    Police records indicate that the tag, number HJC9888, was taken from a 2020 Chevrolet Sonic, with a 2021 Hyundai Venue SE and a 2020 Dodge Ram Promaster City van involved in the attempted larcenies.
