MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man has been charged after deputies found marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop in Monongalia County.

On April 30, deputies with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department were patrolling the area of Canyon Road in Morgantown when they observed a Dodge Nitro without a visible registration displayed, according to a criminal complaint.

When deputies performed a traffic stop, they made contact with the vehicle’s driver. Germaine Henley, 25, of Morgantown, and “could smell plainly the odor of unburnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle,” deputies said.

During that time, Henley stated that “he had just smoked marijuana in the vehicle,” which resulted in deputies performing a search and locating three packages of marijuana weighing 8 grams, a set of digital scales and $250 in cash “in small denominations,” according to the complaint.

Henley has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail on $10,000 bond.
