Passing of the Rifle Ceremony planned for next week in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Mikel Hager will officially pass on the rifle and Mountaineer mascot responsibilities to Nicholas County native Braden Adkins during the Passing of the Rifle Ceremony Friday, April 26.

According to WVU, a reception will be held at 5 p.m. in the Mountainlair Vandalia Lounge followed by the program at 6 p.m. in the Gluck Theatre.

Speakers include former Mountaineer mascots Brady Campbell (2006-07), Jonathan Kimble (2012-13) and Colson Glover (2020-21).

Steven Treadway and Glover of Mountain Honorary will serve as the moderators.

The event is open to the public and parking is available on the first floor of the Mountainlair parking garage.

Adkins will begin his term as the Mountaineer mascot on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Gold-Blue Spring Football Game.
