Oakland first district nationwide with 100% electric school buses
(KRON) — Oakland became the first school district in the nation to have a fully electric fleet of school buses today. In partnership with the Oakland Unified School District and Zum, a student transportation company, manufacturers said all 74 of these school buses will also be providing energy to the city when not in use.

Prescott Market, a collection of food and drink vendors coming to West Oakland, is planning to launch this summer with a taproom from Almanac Beer Co. as its first tenant. The organizers, the same people behind West Oakland Farmers Market and the Prescott Night Markets debuting June 6, are busy recruiting other tenants that will offer a variety of services and cuisines morning through night, including a coffee shop, butcher and burger spot.

Korean fried chicken purveyor Chimmelier is heading to the Bay Area from Los Angeles this weekend, slinging crisp chicken sandwiches with two pop-ups scheduled in Oakland for May 17 and 18. The Chimmelier team will first take over Oakland’s K-Street restaurant at 3905 Broadway on Friday, May 17, with two items from its menu: the loaded K-chicken burger and the honey butter wings. Chimmelier will then make its next appearance on Saturday, May 18, for Dokkaebier’s Chimaek Festival in Oakland, which pairs chicken and beer alongside entertainment and games.

Man fatally shot last month in San Francisco's Bayview District identified
On Wednesday, San Francisco police confirmed the identity of a man who was fatally shot late last month in the city's Bayview District, and they have requested the public's assistance in solving the case. Officers found Charles "CeCe" Lawrence around 9:33 p.m. on April 29 after responding to an activation of the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system in the area of Third Street and Quesada Avenue.The San Francisco police have not announced any arrests or released information about a suspect in the killing. SF street homelessness lowest since 2015 amid overall rise
Homelessness in San Francisco increased 7% in the last two years, according to preliminary Point-In-Time Count data released Thursday by The City’s Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing. The federally mandated count, which The City and other jurisdictions across the nation conduct every two years, tallies the number of unhoused people living on the street in tents, vehicles or other shelter on one particular night. San Francisco conducted its count Jan. 30, recording 8,323 people that night compared with 7,754 in 2022. ...
