Heavy Rain at 1 to 3 Inches Per Hour Soaks Central New Jersey Near Toms River as Training Storms Threaten Long Island, New York City and Southeastern New England
TOMS RIVER, NEW JERSEY — Heavy rain is pouring over central New Jersey on Friday, November 6, with rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour in the heaviest downpours. A boundary of rain is moving north off the Atlantic, and forecasters are watching whether it sets up as a training situation, with storms repeatedly moving over the same areas. That could spread heavy rain across New Jersey, Long Island and southeastern New England. The heaviest rain is falling between the Philadelphia area and Toms River, where Flash Flood Warnings have been issued. Rain is also pushing north toward New York City, Norwich and Providence.
