Monticello boys’ golf is playing with a purpose. On Monday, the Magic hosted a Mississippi 8 Conference Meet and tied Chisago Lakes for the top spot on the leaderboard after both teams shot 310 on the day.

On Thursday, April 18, the boys played in the Pequot Lakes Patriots Early Bird Invitational at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa. Monticello took fourth as a team, but senior Tommy Disch shot an invite-low 72.

The top five finish continued a season-long trend for Monticello. Their highest finish in any event so far was fourth. They also finished fourth during the 2024 Monticello Boys Invite and took second in the Fox Opener Quad earlier this season.

During the conference meet on Monday, Monticello had four golfers finish inside the top 10. Sophomore Brady McGriff was second with 76, three strokes behind Chisago Lakes senior Andrew Swanson.

Senior Quinten Haas (77) was fourth, sophomore Carter Lemke (78) tied for sixth and Disch (79) was 10th. Juniors Andrew Roberts (84) and Eli Petig (85) also competed for the Magic.

Finishing behind disch during the Pequot Lakes Invite for Monticello was Lemke (T-12th, 79), McGriff and Haas (T-30, 82). Seniors Micah Sieben (93) and Lance Ingalls (104) also played.

On Wednesday, Monticello played in a conference meet at the Ponds Golf Course in St. Francis. On Tuesday, April 30, the Magic play at Pebble Creek Golf Club for another M8 meet.
