SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Somerset County Board of County Commissioners has agreed to a five-year contract with Morris County to provide housing for Somerset County’s longer-term detainees. The agreement is the product of a year of study by County officials to address the reduced jail population. To meet the needs of the courts and local law enforcement the Somerset County jail will continue to operate on a limited basis with the short-term housing of detainees scheduled for court hearings. Vanita Nargund is the newest member of the Montgomery Board of Education. Nargund, who moved to Skillman in 2018 and has been a New Jersey resident since 1990, was appointed at the May 21 school board meeting. SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The township will hold a veteran street sign dedication ceremony on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the corner of Sand Hill Road and Freida Lane. This ceremony will honor Peter S. Bongiorno, a World War II veteran. Bongiorno enlisted in the United States Army on February 8, 1944, and was part of the 5th Infantry anti-tank gun crew, firing tank weapons during combat.
