A Santa Rosa man pleaded guilty Tuesday to decapitating his grandmother whose body was discovered at her Santa Rosa home last November. Luis Aroyo-Lopez entered his plea before Sonoma County Judge Laura Passaglia in Santa Rosa as he was observed in court by a dozen family members of his and the victim, Elvia Aroyo-Lopez.

A Sonoma County judge sentenced a Windsor attorney Tuesday to nearly a year in jail plus three years of probation for taking money from a family trust he’d been managing. Judge Mark Urioste sentenced Michael Voorhees during a hearing in Sonoma County Superior Court in Santa Rosa. Voorhees, who was not already in jail, was ordered by Urioste to surrender by July 9.

Downes replaces Matt Dinerman who has quickly climbed the ranks within the trade, taking up full-time positions at Oaklawn Park in Arkansas and Monmouth Park in New Jersey.
