    Ouachita Parish authorities find 7 pounds of narcotics after lengthy vehicle pursuit

    MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — On May 2, 2024, deputies of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle while traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 near the 101 exit. According to authorities, the suspect vehicle refused to stop for deputies, leading them on a lengthy pursuit.

    Once authorities stopped the vehicle on Jackson Street in Monroe, La., they observed the driver of the vehicle fleeing the scene on foot. Authorities apprehended the suspect and identified him as 30-year-old Larry DeWayne Mitchell, Jr.

    According to deputies, Mitchell allegedly possessed 7 pounds of methamphetamine. Mitchell was placed under arrest and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Resisting an Officer, and Improper Lane Use.
