Colorado State University Updated Hurricane Outlook
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - On July 8th, Colorado State University, updated their Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook. They are forecasting a below average hurricane season in the Atlantic. The current El Nino set-up will continue to intensify through this fall. This will lead to increased wind shear in the Atlantic basin. Due to increase wind shear, tropical systems will have a harder time developing. Right now, they have forecasted nine named storms, four hurricanes and one major hurricane. Compared to previous seasons, this would be well below average, due to this rare extreme El Nino set-up.
