Crash In Manhattan On Monday Sends Seven To The Hospital
A crash in Manhattan on Monday, May 13th at 52 and Baker Road involved three SUV’s and sent seven people to the hospital. Manhattan Fire Protection District Chief Steve Malone tells WJOL that all of those injuries were non-life threatening. It’s unclear of how the accident occurred. There is only one stop sign on Baker Road. All SUV’s suffered front damage to their vehicle. Those transferred to the hospital include three patients in their teens, three in their 40’s and a five-year-old. None were trapped. A total of eight ambulances were called to the scene but only seven ambulances were used. Manhattan Police helped with traffic, but Illinois State Police and Will County Sheriff’s were also on scene.

Saturday Afternoon Crash leaves Motorcyclist With Serious Injuries
On May 11, 2024, at 1:47 p.m., Joliet Police Officers responded to South Chicago Street and Doris Avenue for a report of a traffic crash involving a motorcycle. A preliminary investigation of the crash determined the following: A Toyota Camry driven by Dillanira Leon (27, Joliet) was northbound on South Chicago Street approaching Doris Avenue. Leon then proceeded to turn left towards a private drive in the path of a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by a male (44, Homer Glen) that was southbound on South Chicago Street at Doris Avenue in the curb lane. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the Toyota.
After 10 Months Bolingbrook Fire Ravaged Home Comes Down
It’s been an eye sore for nearly a year in Bolingbrook and now it’s coming down. As first reported by WJOL the home at 2 Fairfax Ct., was destroyed by fire on June 11th in 2023. Fencing remained around the home, but it remains a burnt out shell of itself for over 10 months. No one was injured. Crews were on scene there Monday morning as they begin the task of tearing it down.
Raffle/Candle Light Vigil For Victim Of Murder/Suicide
Friends of slain Joliet woman will be holding a raffle and candle light vigil for Meliss Aud-Headlee. The mother of three was stabbed to death in a murder/suicide on May 11th by her estranged husband who then stabbed himself with a kitchen knife. The two were in the process of a divorce.
Driver Loses Control Of Vehicle In Joliet, Three Sent To The Hospital
On May 10, 2024, at 5:37 p.m., Joliet Officers responded to the 1500 block of McKinley Street for a report of a traffic crash with injuries. Upon arrival, Officers learned that a Polaris Slingshot driven by Leroy McAfee (44, Joliet) was southbound on McKinley Street. It is believed that the Slingshot lost control and collided head on into a Nissan Altima, driven by a female (28, Joliet) that was headed northbound on McKinley Street.
