The DCSO says that they responded to a shooting on Pineville Road just before 3 p.m. on April 16.

According to deputies, an 18-year-old girl called 911 about a shooting at the home, staying on the line with telecommunications operators until deputies found her hiding with a 1-month-old baby.

Jade Marie Sales, 34, of Mocksville, was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in the home.

The suspect was identified as Sales, who left the scene before deputies arrived and was apprehended in Kingsport, Tennessee, on April 17.

Additional children who lived in the home were at school during the time of the incident and were placed in the care of the Department of Social Services.

Sales has been charged with murder.
