MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A Mobile County jury has found a local man guilty of intentional murder, according to the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office.
“This case is an example of a planned attack in which the perpetrator was lying in wait for the victims as they returned home on the evening of Christmas Eve, 2021,” Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood said. “They were ambushed and shot in a fit of rage and jealousy, leaving 40-year-old Quincy Kemp dead and Shanda Avery injured.
“What was supposed to be a joyous night ended up being a nightmare.”
Sashington will be sentenced on June 11, News 5 has learned. He faces the mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole for the capital murder conviction.
He was also convicted of attempted murder and will face 20 to 99 years or life in prison for that charge.
