BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — A man was seriously injured and a load of asphalt was emptied onto a highway after a dump truck crash on the morning of Tuesday, May 21.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at approximately 10:42 a.m., a Sterling Dump Truck was hauling a load of asphalt on Highway 2 about 16 miles west of Minot. Its front left steer tire blew out, causing the vehicle to enter the median and cross into the eastbound lanes. The truck eventually entered the south ditch and overturned.

The driver of the truck, a 60-year-old man from Towner, was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot for treatment, and asphalt crews later cleared the eastbound lanes of his payload.

The crash currently remains under investigation.
