MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — First International Bank & Trust (FIBT) is celebrating Norwegian heritage with the public by hosting a Lefse Day.

Lefse Day is being held in honor of Norwegian Independence Day — otherwise known as Syttende Mai. Throughout the celebration, five FIBT employees will be rolling lefse in the lobby during the event. People are invited to watch the process and enjoy lefse and other refreshments.

In the last year, FIBT rolled and served lefse at branches in Bismarck, Fargo, Watford City, and Gibert, Arizona. This year, they seek to add Minot to the tradition.

Things to do around town: May 13-19

“We’re proud of our Norwegian heritage in the Magic City,” said FBIT Minot’s President Brock DesLauriers, “so it’s only fitting that we enjoy lefse with our customers on Syttdende Mai. We think our customers will enjoy seeing familiar faces at FIBT in their new roles as lefse rollers.”

The event will take place on May 17, from 2-4 p.m. at 1600 S Broadway.
