MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Minot has begun a new project to help visitors and residents find their way around the Magic City — one that begins with a series of helpful wayfinding signs.
On Friday, May 10, the first of these new signs was put up. Located just west of Maysa Arena on Burdick Expressway, it features arrows to direct visitors to the Maysa Arena, the State Fair Center, the Minot Municipal Auditorium, and Historic Downtown.
According to a Facebook post made by the City of Minot, the project will cost $367,419 to complete, which has been acquired through the community development portion of the city’s sales tax. Throughout this operation, city staff aim to put up 45 more primary and secondary signs across Minot— all of which offer similar directions to some of the area’s most famous attractions.

The secondary signage, meanwhile, will send visitors to South Hill Softball Complex, the Souris Valley Golf Course, Jack Hoeven Wee Links, Corbett Field, the Sertoma Softball Complex, the Dakota Territory Air Museum, Minot High School’s Magic City Campus, and Minot North High School.
Phase Two of the project aims to improve the city’s entrance monuments, and while funding has been set aside for 2024, it is unknown when the process will begin. Phase Three is set to take place in 2025, pending budget approval.
