Baseball: Confidence making the difference for first-place Minot

The Minot baseball team opened this season with 16 straight wins, a season after missing out on the state tournament.

The Magi sit at 18-2 thus far to sit atop the West Region Baseball standings.

Minot’s recipe for success has been a batting order bringing in an average of just over nine runs per game, and a defense that’s allowed double digit runs just once for a team playing with more confidence than a season ago.

“For me, it’s making plays. Hitting the ball a lot more because, baseball is all mental. If you’re mentally down, you’re not gonna make the play,” Senior Parker Hann said.

“We just got guys who put the bat on the ball and we’re just a tight knit group of guys. We just have trust in one another and for our pitching, we’ve got guys who throw strikes and I think that’s our key to success right now,” Senior Braden Nelson said.
