MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — You’ve heard of foster care for children, but throughout our state there is also a need for adult foster care.

One adult foster care home in Minot is hoping to spread the word about the need and find more residents who need help.

Enney Adult Foster Home houses three residents and has room for one more.

The husband-and-wife duo takes care of adults with disabilities or severe medical needs, right from their own home.

“There is a huge need for adult foster care in this state and in Minot,” explained the caregiver and founder of Enney Adult Foster Home, Rose Enney. “As far as I know we are the only one in Minot. There’s the assisted livings, the nursing homes, and there’s a big gap in between.”

From laundry and meals, to activities and transportation, the Enney family provides around the clock care.

Rose Enney says adult foster fits the needs of unique patients and creates a more personal experience.

“Don has dementia really bad but he likes to sing and so we sing a lot of old songs from the 30s and the 40s cause that’s what he remembers, said Enney. “And sometimes he’ll even get up and do a little dance with me.”

Enney Adult Foster Homes accepts medicare and medicaid, and has room for one more roommate.

Enney said she would love to help other people get started with their in home care business as well.
