St. Louis Park Authorizes Restaurants Serving Liquor to Operate Closer to Homes
After a recent city council decision, St. Louis Park restaurants are primed for a closer connection to neighborhood patrons. The future is looking bubbly for some local businesses as the St. Louis Park City Council gave the green light on an ordinance to let restaurants serving intoxicating liquor cozy up to residential zones. With a new setback allowance, establishments can now set up shop as close as 25 feet from homes, as reported by the St. Louis Park MN.

Chef Adam Lerner, who created the iconic Saint Dinette burger, has found happiness with the team (and burgers) at Red Cow. When I popped out to Wayzata late last year to breeze through a preview of the newest Red Cow location, I was more than a little surprised to find chef Adam Lerner in the kitchen. On one hand it made total sense, given that he was responsible for creating one of the most iconic cheeseburgers in the Twin Cities at Saint Dinette many years ago. That beautiful double stack of beef, that house-made American cheese that contained nothing less than actual Champagne! I think he was the first to convince me that making your own American cheese was something noble and good.

Association honors Mackenthun’s for Minnesota-grown, hunger initiatives
Mackenthun’s Fine Foods of Waconia was among the honorees at the Minnesota Grocers Association (MGA) Champions Luncheon held on Tuesday, April 16 at the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel in Eagan. This event showcases from, farm to fork, the Minnesota food industry’s positive impact on our communities. The afternoon highlighted the accomplishments of those engaged in all aspects of the Minnesota food industry. Mackenthun’s took regional honors in the Minnesota Grown program recognizing grocers that bring local products to market. The Waconia family grocer also was recognized with a Bag Hunger Campaign “Silver Plate Award” for community hunger support. The MGA’s 2023 campaign donated more than 1.5 million meals across the state, and in the last 15 years has provided over 44 million meals to hungry families in Minnesota.
