They always say that the NBA is a "make-or-miss" league, and that championships swing on whether or not a bucket falls or not.

But what happens when a made basket is waved off in controversial fashion?

That's what took place for the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night. Trailing 104-102 with just over a minute to play, Timberwolves star Karl Anthony-Towns got a massive putback dunk that would have tied the game.

However, the refs waved the basket off, saying that it was offensive goaltending as the ball was still above the rim.

A lot of Timberwolves fans are outraged at the call, claiming that a clear basket was taken away from them in one of the most pivotal moments of the game. However, there's not notable fan who appears to be rooting for the Mavericks, and he's applauding the call.

That notable fan is Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs legendary quarterback, is a longtime Mavericks fan, so it makes sense that he agrees with the call, as his team went on to win 108-105 in Game 1.

I'd be curious to see what he thinks if the tables were turned, though.
