Good news for Twin Cities' park lovers.

Minneapolis and St. Paul are home to the second and third best park systems in the country, trailing just Washington D.C.

That's according to the annual Park Score Index by the Trust for Public Land.

According to the rankings, 99 percent of  residents in both of the Twin Cities live within a 10-minute walk of a park.

Minneapolis scored just slightly higher than it's neighbor across the river thanks to a pair of new dog parks added this past year.

In Minneapolis, scores were very high for access, investment, and amenities. 15% of the land in Minneapolis is dedicated to park space. The city also invests $330 per capita to its parks which ranks fifth in the country.

It's a similar story in St. Paul which scored very high in access and investment. They were slightly lower than Minneapolis in amenities but higher when it comes to equity. $242 per capita is spent on parks in St. Paul which ranks ninth in the U.S.

And if basketball is your sport, you're in luck in St. Paul. There are 22.4 basketball courts per capita in the city which is easily the most in the U.S. Minneapolis is number thirteen with 9.1.

The top three remain unchanged from 2023's rankings, with Minneapolis and St. Paul just swapping second and third.

Both of the Twin Cities are always near the top of the list on the annual park rankings. You can see City Park Facts here and the entire ranking is available here .
