Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch has suffered a serious knee injury after Devin Booker appeared to have pushed Mike Conley into him during their playoff victory to eliminate the Phoenix Suns .

Towards the end of the game, Booker seemed to be pushing Conley out of bounds before he was able to get a pass off, but he collided with Finch, who fell to the ground immediately clutching his knee.

After being helped off the floor, Finch underwent scans which have shown that he had suffered a significant injury - a torn patellar tendon (kneecap). One of the more serious knee injuries that can be sustained, a torn patellar tendon could take as long as 12 months to recover from.

The coach will hope to be back on the sidelines for the Timberwolves ' next series in the playoffs, while he may even find himself in a wheelchair for the next few weeks.

The Timberwolves completed the first-ever sweep in their NBA playoff history and their first playoff series win in 20 years with Anthony Edwards dominating.

The Suns fought until the end in what was a final close game, with Booker having 49 points on the night and Kevin Durant adding 33 as his back and forth with Edwards continued throughout the series.

Edwards was once again seen chirping at Durant on the court, saying: "It won't get that easy no more, K."

After the series, Edwards showed nothing but respect for his international teammate ahead of the Olympics , saying: "It felt great, I got the utmost respect for KD, man. He comes in and competes every night."

Edwards has long-admired Durant, admitting that he is his all-time favorite player in the NBA. He added: "I've watched every last one of his games since I was like five. So In love that guy, man, I'm excited to play with him this summer."

The forward has blossomed into one of the top five players in the NBA this season, going from star to superstar with his statement performances against the Suns, after he promised that the Timberwolves would win in four games.

He said: "I told y'all the last time we played, I'm going to kill every damn thing everything in front of me. I knew we had a chance to sweep them and I mean, why would we want to go back to Minnesota? We know the recipe and they played hard tonight, very tough, but shout out to my teammates."

The Timberwolves are now set for a difficult Western Conference Semi-Finals, likely taking in reigning champions and favorites to win it all in the Denver Nuggets , who lead the Los Angeles Lakers 3-1 ahead of Monday night's Game 5.
