Anthony Edwards on his mentality on the court: "I just want to kill everything in front of me"

The Minnesota Timberwolves have taken a commanding 3-0 lead over the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Despite having Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal on the roster, the Suns have displayed an underwhelming level of play three games into the postseason. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves keep winning the matchup with, on paper at least, a less talented squad. The primary reason behind that dominance is Anthony Edwards , who had another fantastic performance, posting 36 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.

"I just want to kill everything in front of me. That's the main thing, pretty much. That's all there is to it," Edwards said after the game. "I've never been here, so I don't know how tough it is. I just come out here and play my game, and have my guys ready to win. I haven't won a series yet, I've been sent home twice, so I'm thirsty to get it."

The T-Wolves will most likely win the series

No team has come back from being down 3-0 in NBA playoffs history. The 2023 Boston Celtics almost did it in the Eastern Conference Finals, but they still lost in the win-or-go-home game to the Miami Heat.

That said, Minnesota shouldn't underestimate Phoenix, even though the series has been one-sided thus far. That is why Ant is showing his competitiveness without being complacent. Edwards is a special player, and even Michael Jordan has given him the stamp of approval .

While the trio of Durant, Booker, and Beal has been solid in the series, Phoenix is getting outworked in almost every area, especially on defense. That lack of depth was a big blow for the Suns because they do not have reliable players outside the trio. Only Eric Gordon scored in double-digits outside of the star players, with Jusuf Nurkic having an absolute stinker with only three points on 1-for-4 shooting.

    Ant is not looking ahead

Despite having a massive chance of winning the series, Ant and the Timberwolves are not looking ahead of the Suns. They still recognize that this team is dangerous, so they are locked in for Game 4.

"We've never been here before. I think it's pretty easy for us to lock in on the present. We can't look forward; we can't look past tomorrow or the next game. We gotta look at right now because we've never been here; we just started winning, so we wanna keep it going," Ant continued.

Game 4 in Phoenix will be challenging to win with the Suns' backs against the wall, but if Ant and the Timberwolves continue playing like they have been, the sweep looks like a realistic scenario. If they eliminate Phoenix, the T-Wolves will likely face the Denver Nuggets in the second round..
