Earth Day isn't technically until Monday, but this weekend is a great time to get out and beautify your neighborhood or local park.

What's happening: 44 park sites in Minneapolis, including the Chain of Lakes, Theodore Wirth and Powderhorn Park, are holding volunteer cleanups on Saturday, all from 9:30am–noon. No registration required, bags and gloves provided.

  • There are 33 kickoff sites in St. Paul ranging from parks to breweries to coffee shops. Stop by between 9am and 11:30am for bags and gloves, then head out to collect trash at the location of your choice.

Plus: After the cleanups, head over to events like Como Zoo and Conservatory's Party for the Planet , featuring kid-friendly activities and educational programming, a clothing swap in Minneapolis and birding festival in Hastings.
