    Restaurant Roundup: Diane's Place opens, North Loop's new two-level bar, Alary's is back

    Diane's Place, the hotly anticipated restaurant from acclaimed pastry chef Diane Moua, is now open in the Food Building in Northeast Minneapolis.

    What to expect: Emphasis on pastries, like a sweet pork danish with salted egg yolk alongside sweet options like Moua's pain au chocolat, Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine reports .


    • It's serving breakfast and lunch for now, with dinner service to come.

    ☕️ A new coffee shop is coming to Uptown this summer, Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal reports . Sip Society Café will serve coffee from local roaster Wesley Andrews, Somali tea, wraps, sandwiches, and smoothies when it opens in June.

    🍩 Golden Valley is getting two new restaurants: Mochinut, a dessert shop with American doughnuts and Japanese sweets; and all-you-can-eat sushi/ramen shop Nagoya. No word yet on an opening date, but construction is underway now, according to CCX Media .

    🪩 A two-level bar is opening in the former Stilheart Distillery space in North Loop this spring, according to North Loop's news site . Ava will resemble an "old classic discotheque," the owner said, and feature tapas from STEPCHLD chef Kamal Mohamed.

    👋 Shakopee supper club Dangerfield's reopened on Tuesday after closing down in 2022. It's under the same ownership, but expect a new menu, Bring Me The News reports .

    🏈 Alary's , the long-running downtown St. Paul bar that closed last June, is coming back under new ownership in May.

    • The Pioneer Press reports that new owner Bill Collins, who also runs Camp Bar and Cabaret, will keep Alary's name and status as a Chicago Bears bar.
