Minnesota restaurant openings & closings for March 2024

Plenty of restaurant happenings shook up the local food scene this month, including the highly-anticipated return of both a popular barbecue restaurant and an iconic Chinese bakery.

Here's a round-up of the latest restaurant openings and closings:

Openings

Dave's Hot Chicken (1959 Ford Parkway, St. Paul): The Los Angeles-based fried-chicken chain arrived in St. Paul's Highland Park this month, drawing long lines of eager customers. Read more here .

Jellybean & Julia's BBQ (2501 Coon Rapids Boulevard, Coon Rapids): The former Anoka restaurant is now open in its new location in Coon Rapids. Stop in for a coconut chicken pineapple sandwich, burger, chicken wings, nachos or, of course, barbecue dishes.

Keefer Court Bakery & Cafe (12160 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie): One of the Twin Cites' most treasured establishments made a comeback this month at the Asia Mall. The Chinese bakery, which is now under new ownership, operated for nearly 40 years in Minneapolis' Cedar Riverside neighborhood. Pink Ivy Kitchen & Bar (712 Mainstreet, Hopkins): A new American restaurant and bar opened in downtown Hopkins this month. This more here .

Slice Watch Bar (400 Wabasha Street North, St. Paul): Slice Brothers Pizza's classic, by-the-slice pizza arrived in downtown St. Paul this month. The new venture, Slice Watch Bar, is now open inside the Treasure Island Center. Read more here .

Young's (2125 4th Street, White Bear Lake): A locally-owned, fast-casual Korean restaurant opened in White Bear Lake this month. Read more here .

Closures

4th Street Saloon (328 West Broadway Avenue, Minneapolis): A north Minneapolis night life mainstay is closing at the end of the month after 37 years in business. Read more here.

Apoy (4301 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis): The lively Filipino restaurant in south Minneapolis closed this month, but the business' food truck operations are set to relaunch. Read more here .

Black Coffee and Waffle Bar (1500 Como Avenue Southeast): The original Black Coffee and Waffle Bar in Minneapolis' Como neighborhood closed this month, but locally-owned Vitality Roasting is moving in. Read more here .

Coconut Whisk Café (905 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis): Downtown Minneapolis' entirely gluten-free and vegan eatery closed this month, but Coconut Whisk is continuing on with its brand of baking mixes and other products. Read more here.
