HASTINGS — Two Grand Island residents died in a pickup-car crash Thursday in Hastings. The Hastings Police Department said the crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 600 block of North Burlington Avenue. Natividad Zuniga, 61, and Graciano Nava Zuniga, 45, both of Grand Island, died at the scene.

Hastings man faces charges after large amount of meth, cocaine located in packages
HASTINGS, Neb. — A Hastings man faces multiple charges after two searches located packages containing large quantities of meth and cocaine. Francisco Ramirez Velazquez, 19, is charged in Adams County Court with alleged possession of more than 140 grams of meth, possession of 140 grams or more of cocaine and possession of drug money.

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska is holding its 12th-annual Brain Injury Conference at Younes Conference Center this week. Some of the sessions were targeted to professionals, while others were for brain injury survivors and caregivers. Officials say about 40 percent of participants at the event are individuals who have suffered a brain injury.

HASTINGS, Neb. — UPDATE:. Two people died and three others were taken to the hospital following a crash on North Burlington Avenue Thursday night. According to Hastings Police, the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. when two vehicles were driving north in the 600 block of North Burlington Avenue. The preliminary investigation showed that a pickup collided with the rear of a car, pushing the car onto the terrace where it collided with other objects.

Buffalo County sets new distancing requirements for possible wind farms
KEARNEY, Neb. — Energy companies will have to meet a new set of requirements if interested in building a wind farm in Buffalo County. The Buffalo County Commissioners voted unanimously last week to approve distancing rules that were recommended by the planning commission. The rules say a wind farm can’t be located or expanded within three miles of agriculture residential zoned property, three miles from any parcel owned by a non-applicant, three miles of a church, hospital, pool or park, five miles of any village or city, two miles of a burial site, the Platte River and South Loup River areas or five miles from a wildlife preservation or management area.
