JANESVILLE — Two local bus companies have won contracts to shuttle attendees of the Republican National Convention that’s being held in Milwaukee in July.

Convention spokesperson Jacob Fischer said Friday that the contracts were awarded to Jones Travel Company of Elkorn and Coach USA Van Galder of Janesville.

Fischer said transportation logistics for tens of thousands of delegates, officials, press members and guests during the convention will be a “herculean undertaking,” and nearly 500 buses, shuttles and golf carts will be needed to make it feasible.

The Republican National Convention will take place July 15-18 at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with the Jones Travel Company and Coach USA Van Galder. Seamless transportation is critical for an event of this size and magnitude. With their decades-long history serving the Elkhorn and Janesville communities, respectively, Jones Travel and Coach USA Van Galder are going to be vital partners for the 2024 Republican Convention,” Fischer said.

“At Jones Travel Company, we are proud of our decades of service to Wisconsin communities. We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the 2024 Republican National Convention and showcase our hospitality and service to guests from all over the country this summer,” Eric Jones, owner of Jones Travel Company, said in a statement.

“Coach USA Van Galder has proudly served the Janesville community since 1947 and we are excited to now use those decades of local transportation experience to provide dedicated buses, skilled drivers and the highest levels of safety and reliability to help make the 2024 Republican National Convention a success,” Coach USA Van Galder General Manager Allen Fugate said.
