One killed, one injured in Millen shooting
MILLEN, Ga. (WFXG) - The Jenkins County Coroner says one person is dead and another is recovering after a shooting in Millen Monday night. The coroner says 39-year-old Robert Herrington of Millen was shot on Corbett Street around 9 p.m. He was taken to a hospital where he later died. Another man was taken to the hospital for treatment. He is expected to be okay.

City of Statesboro accepting applications for the Tree Board
The City of Statesboro is accepting applications for appointments to its Tree Board. The Tree Board appointment is a three-year term. The Tree Board meets once a month. The deadline to apply to be considered for an appointment is May 3, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Completed applications should be submitted to the office of the City Clerk by email to leah.harden@statesboroga.gov or in person at City Hall 50 East Main Street. Applications can be found at www.statesboroga.gov/boards-commissions. The Statesboro Tree Board was established on January 15, 1991. The Board consists of 9 members appointed by the Mayor and City Council to serve staggered terms of 6 years. The Board is responsible for hearing requests for variances for special use permits in the enforcement of the City of Statesboro Tree Ordinance.
