Huskers earn 53 Regional Bids on Thursday
Nebraska track and field earned 53 bids to the NCAA West Preliminary Round, set for May 22-25 at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark. Athletes who rank among the top 48 in their respective events earned berths into the NCAA West Preliminary Round, as well as the 24 best relay times.At the NCAA West Preliminary Round, the top 12 competitors from each individual event and the top 12 teams from each relay event will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, hosted in Eugene, Ore. The list of qualifiers from each event contested in the first rounds will be announced by 4 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, May 26. The final list of the championships competition participants will be announced by 2 p.m. (CT) on Tuesday, May 28.

Lincoln man convicted for fatally shooting neighbor after argument about dog
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Prosecutors have struck a deal with the man who shot and killed 18-year-old Julian Martinez after an argument in 2023. Lancaster County Judge Susan Strong found 30-year-old Armon Rejai guilty on one count of second-degree murder on Monday. He pled no contest to the charge. In exchange, prosecutors lowered a first-degree murder charge and dropped one count of use of a firearm to commit a felony.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska AD Troy Dannen announced the Memorial Stadium renovation timeline and project plans are undergoing some major changes. Dannen met with the Board of Regents committees Thursday and ultimately decided the South Stadium will not be torn down following the 2024 season. Instead, Nebraska plans to turn their immediate focus to designing and planning improvements for the East and West Stadiums, with a target to begin work on the East and West no earlier than after the 2025 season.
