Juneteenth Celebration Lunch. 12 -1:30 p.m. Bert Walker Hall, Rooms 144-145. Commemorate Juneteenth as Jackson College hosts a luncheon on Tuesday, June 11 on Central Campus, a part of Jackson’s local Juneteenth festivities. College students, employees and community members are invited to this luncheon, to be held in Bert Walker Hall’s Community Rooms 144-145 from 12-1:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to listen, learn and be inspired by the perspectives shared. By fostering open dialogue and embracing our diversity, we can continue to heal, grow and build a more equitable society. Jackson Mayor Daniel Mahoney will give an official welcome to all guests, and local playwright Lisa Williams will offer a speech to celebrate the occasion. Guests may enjoy a Motown Tribute, along with food from Tasty Spoons, Ashley Cakes and Texas Roadhouse.

JACKSON -- The spring sports season is almost over. With only a handful of games left to play and trophies to hand out, most of the competition has wrapped up for the 2023-24 school year and most of the athletes have put away the bats, gloves, cleats and clubs for the summer.
Longtime former head coach returns to lead Chelsea girls basketball
CHELSEA, MI – Todd Blomquist couldn’t stay away, and now he’s back to lead Chelsea’s girls basketball team once again. Chelsea announced Tuesday afternoon on social media that Blomquist was returning as the head coach of the girls program he helped build into a consistent winner for 20 seasons.
“Sparkling Smiles” Free Dental Clinic at Jackson College
(June 10, 2024 6:12 PM ET) Jackson College invites parents to bring their youngsters to a HealthWise “Sparkling Smiles” event, a free dental screening & educational event designed for future kindergarteners, Tuesday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Justin Whiting Hall. Considering Governor Whitmer’s recently enacted law requiring dental evaluations for children entering kindergarten, the College is hosting a special, free event to provide screenings.

JACKSON COUNTY, MI – You never found Herbert Elfring sitting down and doing nothing. He stayed busy chasing down grandkids, giving back to his community or sharing stories as a World War II veteran and a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attacks. Even up to his death on Saturday, May 25, at age 102, he loved being involved and active.
