Four-star OL G’nivre Carr’s bond with Miami continues to grow after spring visit: “They’re building a big program down there”

Earlier this spring, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 2026 offensive lineman G’nivre Carr made his way down to Miami for the Hurricanes spring game. Last week the Canes staff returned the favor as they stopped by the national powerhouse to watch the four-star prospect.

With new offers continuing to roll in for Carr, who recently added Alabama and Michigan to his list of nearly 30 offers, Miami has remained one of his top programs early on.

“The more and more I go there, the more and more I like it,” Carr told CaneSport. “Coach (Mario) Cristobal and coach (Alex) Mirabal have some good things going on in Miami. I think they’re building a big program down there. I think they’re going to go far this year.”

Among Miami’s staffers who were at IMG Academy last week was offensive line coach Alex Mirabal . Carr and Mirabal have built a strong relationship in recent months.

Carr, who is the No. 222 ranked prospect in the 2026 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking , has enjoyed some of the coaching tidbits he has received from Mirabal and plans to implement some of the things he has learned into his game this summer.

“They really like what they have seen but want me to work on my stab and punch,” Carr said. “I think that’s pretty good because they see things that I need to work on. That makes me feel great because I’m never where I want to be. I like that, and I need motivation. I don’t want a coach that just tells me I’m good; I want a coach that pushes me.”

While Miami sits near the top of the 6-foot-4, 325-pounder’s list of favorite schools, South Carolina, Michigan, Tennessee, and Oklahoma are other programs Carr is high on as he wraps up his sophomore season.

“Really just how they treat my mom and my family period,” Carr said when asked what he looks for in a program. “Also, how can they help me develop as a player and person as well? Some days you’re not going to have a great day in practice or in general, so what can you do to help me as a player to keep going?”

    CaneSport’s take

Miami has wasted no time connecting with Carr, who is one of a handful of top 2026 prospects the Hurricanes have targeted at IMG Academy. Along with four-star offensive tackle Keenyi Pepe and four-star guard Breck Kolojay, Carr is feeling the love from Miami, and the Hurricanes have made it known that they’re wanted in Coral Gables.
