Miami, FL - A 24-year-old man was arrested after he shot at a man he sold a car to following a dispute over the sale's terms.

A 24-year-old Miami man, Cristian Nepalty Verabelanria, was arrested for allegedly shooting at a man he had previously sold a car to.

The incident occurred last week in the 8100 block of Northwest Seventh Street, following a dispute over the sale of a 2014 Ford Escape.

According to police reports, Verabelanria and the victim had known each other for over two years.

The victim had purchased the vehicle for $3,500, with an agreement to pay $2,500 up front and the remaining $1,000 in installments.

However, the vehicle soon began experiencing mechanical issues, prompting Verabelanria to agree to take the vehicle back and refund the victim.

The situation escalated when Verabelanria refused to refund the full amount, claiming that the victim had been using the vehicle for rideshare services.

After an argument ensued, police advised the men to seek a civil remedy.

Following this, the victim left in the SUV and began picking up passengers as a Lyft driver.

Verabelanria reportedly followed him and, after dropping off the passengers, the victim returned to Seventh Street to pick up another passenger.

It was then that Verabelanria allegedly struck the rear of the SUV with his gun before firing a shot, which traveled through the rear window and exited through the front windshield.

The victim was not injured in the shooting. Verabelanria later returned to the scene on foot and surrendered to officers. He now faces charges of attempted murder, shooting a deadly missile, and improper exhibition of a weapon.

As of Monday morning, he was being held at the Metrowest Detention Center in lieu of a $16,000 bond.
