The Miami Hurricanes offense got a massive upgrade, as former Oregon State Running Back Damien Martinez announced his intentions to transfer to play for the ACC team. Martinez was an All-Pac-12 first-team last season after rushing for 1,185 yards and nine touchdowns. Martinez was recruited by Arizona, Tennessee, Mississippi State, and Kentucky before landing at Oregon State. Martinez will be an upgrade over Mark Fletcher Jr., who showed promise in his Freshman season as he rushed for 514 yards and five touchdowns.

The Miami Hurricanes have done a great job bringing in fresh faces to this offense, as they also landed Washington State transfer Cam Ward. Ward and Damien Martinez will make a lethal duo in the backfield for Mario Cristobal. This offense ranked 94th in the nation in total offense, but with two dynamic playmakers on the roster now, you’ll likely see a jump in production for the team. Martinez is going to be the thumper for this offense, as he finished in the top 12 in yards after contact (at 3.84), missed tackles forced (57), and runs of 15 yards or more.

The Hurricanes fans should be absolutely pumped up about the transfer of Damien Martinez. He is a proven running back who has produced at a stellar level and enters a conference where the defense won’t be terribly different than that which he faced in the Pac-12. He will immediately become the starter this season, and I would not be surprised if he makes a jump in all of his numbers from a season ago, and he is viewed as one of the best Running Backs in the 2025 NFL Draft (which, spoiler alert, is world’s better than this season) if he is not already.
