Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng is one of the most sought-after defenders in the 2025 class, and the coveted linebacker has recently trimmed his list of over 42 offers to 13 schools, which included the Miami Hurricanes, thanks to the recruitment done by linebackers coach Derek Nicholson .

“Just having a strong connection with coach Dnic and all the other staff down there,” Owusu-Boateng told CaneSport. “Also the rise of the program and seeing what I could potentially do if I went to Miami.”

Along with Miami, the other programs making the cut were Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, South Carolina, Stanford, Texas and USC.

“Just knowing the goal I have in the fall, I wanted to cut that list down to 13 so I have a clear vision of where I want to go,” Owusu-Boateng said when asked why he wanted to narrow his list of offers heading into the summer. “Not only that but just knowing what those final schools could do for me after football.”

In the coming months Owusu-Boateng will be focused on finding a program that will be able to help him grow both on and off the field. Thus far the 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker has three officials set with South Carolina, Stanford, and Georgia.

“Development is the number one thing,” Owusu-Boateng said. “Also, just how I could impact a team and how I’ll be used in a program.”

Owusu-Boateng is the No. 62 overall prospect and the No. 4 linebacker, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. On3 has him as the No. 293 overall prospect and the No. 28 linebacker.

As far as Miami, Owusu-Boateng believes the Hurricanes program is heading in the right direction under third-year head coach Mario Cristobal . That belief in Miami’s future has drawn him to the Hurricanes even more.

“Coach Cristobal has a vision, and a man with a vision is going to try everything in his power to complete that vision,” Owusu-Boateng previously told CaneSport. “That’s what stands out about Miami.”

CaneSport’s take

The talented linebacker is high on Miami despite not visiting Coral Gables since January. Getting Owusu-Boateng back on campus will be key for the Hurricanes and also a good indication of where things stand between the two sides with the four-star linebacker, who says he is in no rush to announce his commitment. “I’m taking my time through it all,” Owusu-Boateng said.
