MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — An employee at a women’s clothing store at the Meriden Mall was taken to a hospital on Thursday after a customer threw what police said is a “powdery substance.”

Police were called at about 12:45 p.m. to Windsor after hearing that the employee’s eyes were irritated and that their throat was closing up. Police have identified two persons of interest in connection to the case.

Cindy Luzunaris, 42, of Meriden, has since been charged with first-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault. She has been released on a $100,000 bond.

Multiple agencies, including the Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad and the FBI, are working to identify what the white powder is.
