    Shooters on scooters fire guns at 2 teenagers

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two teenagers were shot in the Downtown area Wednesday night, Memphis Police say.

    Officers responded to the shooting in the 500 block of Vance Avenue around 7:46 p.m. They say two children were transported to Le Bonheur.

    One 17-year-old was shot in the left leg. He was taken to Le Bonheur in critical condition but was later upgraded to non-critical.

    A 14-year-old was shot in the right arm and taken to Le Bonheur in non-critical condition.

    MPD says the suspects were riding on scooters when they fired shots at the victims. There was a total of 18 shell casings found at the scene.

    Those worshipping during mid-week service put a pause on praying to peek outside. They described seeing a 17-year-old being carried away to safety.

    “We came to the window. It all happened so quickly,” said Vance, a church member. “I saw one guy and they were helping him cross the street because somebody had gotten shot in the leg.”

    Fortunately, the teenaged victims are expected to be okay.
