Bradenton police targeting drivers who ‘block the box’
BRADENTON Fla. (WWSB) - Bradenton Police are cracking down on drivers who block intersections when they try to make left turns into backed-up traffic. “DON’T BLOCK THE BOX!” the department said on Twitter Tuesday. “Over the past several days, officers ticketed 14 drivers caught blocking the box at ONE intersection -- Ninth Street West and Sixth Avenue West. “(It) is a moving violation, and will set you back $166.”

Boat manufacturer opens Manatee County facility, plans to add over 200 jobs
A new 70,000-square-foot boat manufacturing facility expected to bring more than 200 jobs to the Sarasota-Bradenton area held its grand opening Tuesday, March 28. Chris-Craft, a southern Manatee County-based boatbuilder, hosted the event at its campus at 8161 15th Street E. According to a media release, attendees expected at the event included Winnebago Industries and Chris-Craft employees, elected officials and community members. Chris-Craft is a wholly owned subsidiary of Winnebago Industries, an outdoor lifestyle product manufacturer.

Couple arrested in Wildwood after woman’s black eye prompts questions
A couple was arrested in Wildwood after a woman’s black eye prompted questions from law enforcement. Sumter County sheriff’s deputies went to the home of 40-year-old Tara Lea Blackson on Friday afternoon to serve a Manatee County warrant for her arrest. When deputies spoke with Blackson, they noticed she had suffered a black eye. She said the black eye had been inflicted by 30-year-old Gregory Allen Stidd, when they were arguing over a cell phone while in their enclosed camper. When she refused to give him the cell phone, he tried to take her laptop computer. He took the laptop and struck her across the face with it.

Rhodes was participating in a Waterlefe Youth Golf Program clinic, held March 26 at Waterlefe Golf and River Club. His driver was hitting the grass well short of the ball, which sat atop a tee at the course's first hole.
Price increases for Pines Trailer Park residents
BRADENTON BEACH – Pines Trailer Park residents will have to pay $250,000 more than they expected should they decide to purchase their park from the owner. Residents met again on March 15 to discuss their ongoing efforts to cooperatively purchase the 2.78-acre waterfront mobile home park property. The meeting at the Pines Trailer Park community building was open to residents only, who were presented with a seven-page document titled, “Join your fellow residents as we purchase The Pines.” The document, presented by Lifestyle Choice Realty Inc., notes its preliminary nature and says, “Numbers are subject to change as more information is obtained.”
