So say the owners, Rehan Alam and Billy Figaro, both alumni of the Institute of Culinary Education in New York, who have collaborated on the launch. Oak & Vine is scheduled to open Thursday, May 2, at 75 Cedar Swamp Road, a freestanding building and the previous home of The Salt Grill.

Bethpage High School senior Matthew Schneider received a certificate of recognition from New York State Sen. Steve Rhoads, following his recent performance at the 51st annual Joseph R. Sugar NYSSMA Day in Albany. He and his fellow musicians from the NYSSMA All-State Instrumental Jazz Ensemble performed at South Gallery Concourse of the Empire State Plaza and at a reception for state legislators, members of their staff, parents and New York State School Music Association members. Matthew, who plays guitar, was also selected to the NYSSMA All-State Music Festival in December and recently starred in Bethpage High School’s musical production of Catch Me If You Can.
