On April 24, Jeremiah Quan Turner was sentenced to life in prison with possible parole after 30 years for first-degree murder while committing domestic abuse.

Quan will serve his sentence at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud and has 482 days of time already served.

In March, the 27-year-old of Minneapolis was found guilty of the murder of Jasmine Marie Nelson at her Medina home in 2022.

According to the criminal complaint, on Dec. 29, 2022, Medina Police Department was dispatched to a residence at 12:26 a.m. The police found the victim, Nelson, unconscious and not breathing.

Police attempted life saving measures but Nelson died at the hospital. The complaint states that police obtained a warrant for the residence and found blood in many different rooms of the house and on a household item.

Two children were at the home that day and police spoke with the older child. The witness (the older child), said that Nelson and Turner arrived home that day and Nelson was injured and bleeding.

Turner took the witness’s phone away while Turner and the victim were arguing. The complaint states that the witness said Turner was hitting Nelson with a household item.

The older child heard Turner take Nelson to the bathroom and the shower turn on. An autopsy was performed and determined the victims cause of death as multiple blunt force trauma or complications from blunt force trauma.

According to the complaint, the witness stated that Nelson told paramedics that Nelson got into a car accident. The witness said that Nelson was at the house the entire time and police examined the cars at the residence and found no damage.
