Where: Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown. State qualifications: Top five teams, 10 individuals on non-qualifying teams. What to watch: Mentor is firmly in the team race, which is a tight contest among Jackson, Stow, GlenOak and the Cardinals. They are searching for the first team advancement to the state meet since 2022. Jackson comes in as the slight favorite. Stow’s Maddie O’Brien comes in with the fastest time this season with an 18:10.3, but Mentor’s Carmella Curtis is a threat to finish on the podium. Her fastest time this year of 18:33.6 puts her in third seed-wise. She does have a win over O’Brien, and another would be a huge step for the first-year runner. BriAnna Carroll will also be a contender to finish in the top 10 for the Cardinals with her 19:33.4.
