Step inside for the latest on several 2024 and 2025 prospects on Mississippi State’s radar in football and basketball:

First Biscuit – Starting the day with basketball recruiting, on Tuesday I did some more checking on 2025 point guard and On3 four-star prospect King Grace of Waxahachie (Texas) High School. As you may have read in Jamie Shaw’s story, Grace is looking to set up official visits to Mississippi State, LSU, TCU and SMU, which is a bit different from what Grace was saying last month. At one point, Baylor and Houston were on Grace’s list of potential visits and he told me recently he still wants to make his college decision before his senior year begins. Grace has a close relationship with State head coach Chris Jans and assistant Dave Anwar, and if Baylor and Houston are not seriously in the mix, I feel better about State’s odds with Grace.

Second Biscuit – Staying with basketball recruiting a minute longer, on Tuesday I also checked on possible instate prospects for the Class of 2025 and not much has changed on that front. Mississippi State has picked up the state’s top prospect the last three recruiting classes with Kimani Hamilton, Josh Hubbard and also in the 2024 class with Eric Paymon . But that trend is expected to end with the Class of 2025 and I don’t expect the Bulldogs to sign any instate prospects in that class barring a huge surprise. The Bulldogs have remained in touch with wing Kedrick Simmons of Booneville High School but from my conversations recently, I don’t expect Mississippi State to push for Simmons to be in that class. Canton High School center Jamarion Davis-Fleming will likely be the state’s top 2025 prospect but State hasn’t pushed for him either and LSU appears to be the frontrunner for Davis-Fleming at this point. We will see if State gets more interested in Davis-Fleming with Dewayne Brown committing to Tennessee recently.

Third Biscuit – Moving to football recruiting, on Tuesday I talked with 2025 cornerback and On3 three-star prospect George Mullins of South Sumter (Fla.) High School. He took his first unofficial visit to Mississippi State this spring and said he likes how the Bulldogs prefer long corners and that fits his playing style. He has official visits set for Oregon State, Michigan State, Mississippi State (June 21-23) and Toledo. Mullins noted of his regular talks with cornerbacks coach Corey Bell and recruiting specialist Courtney Williams, and said he’s had a good bond with Bell since Bell was coaching at FAU. Mullins added that his goal is to make his college decision at some point this summer and do so after he finishes off his official visits.

Fourth Biscuit – On Tuesday I exchanged a few messages with 2025 cornerback and On3 three-star prospect Rasean Dinkins of Warner Robins (Ga.) High School. While listed as a cornerback, Dinkins has mostly played free safety in the prep ranks and could draw more looks as a safety at the next level. Dinkins unofficially visited Mississippi State this spring and he will also officially visit Mississippi State on June 21-23. Dinkins noted that he also has official visits set for Ole Miss and Georgia Tech this summer, and is working to set up an official visit to Colorado, as well. Florida State is also in the mix with Dinkins so that bears watching and he noted that his college decision could happen this summer.

Fifth Biscuit – Also on Tuesday, I checked with a source close to 2025 defensive back prospect Jeremiah Alvis of Helena (Ala.) High School. While listed as a cornerback, most colleges have offered Alvis as a safety and that includes Mississippi State, who he visited a couple of times this spring. Alvis remains a top priority for safeties coach Matt Barnes and he will be back in Starkville this summer at some point, likely for an official visit. Alvis told me recently that he is starting to plan out his summer official visits and those trips will probably include Mississippi State, Missouri, Arkansas and Ole Miss. I still like where Mississippi State stands with Alvis but like it is with others, his summer visits will play a big factor since he is planning to commit in July.

And for the gravy on top – And lastly on Tuesday, I talked with 2024 Mississippi State signee and On3 three-star receiver prospect Sanfrisco Magee of McComb High School. Magee, as most know, had an impressive senior season with 1,229 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns, and he continued that success in other sports his senior year. Magee helped lead McComb High School to the state championship game in basketball and earlier this month in track, he qualified for the state meet in the 110 hurdles and the triple jump. These days, Magee has been working on his route running and preparations to enroll at Mississippi State later this month. Magee said fellow receivers JJ Harrell and Stonka Burnside have been telling him what to expect with workouts and Magee is eager to be part of Jeff Lebby’s offensive system this season.
